Quick and Easy Shahi Tukra Recipe

Shahi tukda a special and Royal mughlai dessert of Hydrabad. It is rich in taste. The bread slice is fried in clarified butter and soaked in sugar syrup which makes it more rich. The Rabri and dry fruits on top makes it more Royal.


1 litre full cream milk.
1 cup and 3 tbsp sugar.
2 tbsp clarified butter.
1/8 tsp crushed cardamom.
Few saffaron strands.
4 bread slices.
1 tbsp Chopped Almonds.
1 tbsp chopped pistachio.
1 cup water.


1. In a wok heat up the full cream milk.
2. As milk gets boiled stick the creams to the side of the wok.
3. Repeat the process till milk reduces to 1/3 of its original quantity.
4. When milk reduces to 1/3, add sugar and let the sugar dissolve.
5. Add crushed cardamom, saffaron strands and cook for 2 mins.
6. Let the Rabri cool down for 2 hours in the fridge.
7. Take bread slices and remove its sides and cut them into triangle.
8. In a pan heat up clarified butter and deep or shallow fry the bread slices till golden brown and crispy on both the sides.
9. In a pan add a cup of sugar with a cup of water and let the sugar dissolve and melts completely.
10. Cook the sugar syrup for 4-5 mins.
11. Dip the fried bread in sugar syrup and take it out in a plate, do the same process with all the breads.
12. Pour the chilled Rabri over fried breads and top them up with chopped Almonds and pistachios.
