Matar ke chole

Matar ke chole or dry peas sabji is a very delicious one. It’s made out of dry peas. The sabji can be served with rotis, naans, chappati and many more. It’s spicy, tangy and flavourful. It’s healthy and tasty as well.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup dry peas
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tsp grated garlic
  • 2 green chilli
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 chopped onion
  • 2 chopped tomato
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • Salt
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE

  1. In a bowl wash the dry peas and add water and soak overnight or 7-8 hours.
  2. After soaking in a pressure cooker add soaked peas and add water, turmeric powder, salt and cook for 4 whistle.
  3. Once peas cooked well heat up a wok and add oil.
  4. Add cumin seeds, grated ginger, grated garlic, green chilli and saute few mins.
  5. Add chopped onion and saute till it turns brown.
  6. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, roasted cumin powder and mix well.
  7. Add chopped tomato, salt and mix well.
  8. Add little water and cook the tomatoes until it turns mushy.
  9. Add black pepper powder, garam masala and mix well.
  10. Add coriander leaves and mix well.
  11. Add little water and mix well.
  12. Add cooked peas and mix well.
  13. Add 1/2 cup water and cover and cook for 5 mins on medium flame and serve hot.
