Karela ki sabji

This karele ki sabji is a quick sabji. Try out this recipe this will not give you that bitterness of bitter gourd. Crispy, healthy and tasty karela fry recipe.


  • 300 grams bitter gourd.
  • 3 sliced onion.
  • 1/2 cup tomato pulp.
  • 5-6 tbsp oil.
  • 1 tsp panch phoron.
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder.
  • 1 tsp coriander powder.
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder.
  • 2 tbsp Salt.
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala.


  1. Cut the bitter gourd in circles.
  2. Add the bitter gourd in plate and add salt and mix well.
  3. Cover with plate and place a heavy object over it.
  4. Leave it for 15-20 mins.
  5. After 15-20 mins squeeze excess water.
  6. Deep fry the bitter gourd in oil till it turns brown and crispy.
  7. Deep fry the onions as well till it turns brown.
  8. In the same oil add panch phoron and saute for a min.
  9. Add tomato paste and cook for 4-5 mins.
  10. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and saute till it releases oil from sides.
  11. Add dry mango powder and garam masala and mix well.
  12. Add fried bitter gourd and mix well.
  13. Add fried onions and mix well.
  14. Cook it for 5-7 mins till it turns brown and crispy.
