Dal makhani

Dal makhani the one word says everything i.e makhan. It’s a dish made out with lot of makhan/ Butter. The creamy and buttery dal cannot be compared with any of the dals. Delicious dal makhani recipe.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup whole black gram.
  • 1/4 cup kidney beans.
  • 100 gms butter.
  • Salt.
  • 2 tbsp clarified butter.
  • 1 tbsp + 1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder.
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste.
  • 1 cup tomato puree.
  • 2 tsp coriander powder.
  • 2 tsp cumin powder.
  • 1/4 cup fresh cream.
  • 1 tsp Garam masala.
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic.

INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE

  1. In a bowl add whole black gram and red kidney beans and wash well with water.
  2. After washing well soak in water for 6-8 hours.
  3. After soaking it add the gram and kidney beans in pressure cooker add salt and pressure cook for 5 whistles.
  4. After 5 whistles cook it for 30 mins on low flame.
  5. In a pan heat clarified butter, butter and heat it.
  6. Add Ginger-Garlic paste and saute well.
  7. Add red chilli powder and mix well.
  8. Add tomato puree and cook for 4-5 mins.
  9. Add the cooked dal in pan and mix well.
  10. Add 1 cup water and mix well.
  11. Cook for 15-20 mins on low -medium flame.
  12. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, salt and mix well.
  13. Add 50-60 gms of butter, garam masala and mix well.
  14. Cook for 10 mins on medium flame.
  15. In a pan heat butter, add grated garlic and kashmiri red chilli powder and saute for 1-2 mins.
  16. Pour the tempering in the dal.
  17. Add fresh cream and mix well.
